The Way To Grow Preschool
                                        NOVEMBER 2008
A LOOK AT NOVEMBER

We will finish up our study of all the colors with brown and then the week of Nov.10 the children will review colors and should wear their favorite color or a rainbow of colors.

The first week of November all the children should bring in a picture of their family. In the book of Daniel we learn how Daniel had to leave his home and his family and travel to a foreign land. This month we are recognizing that our family is special and we are thankful that God gave us our families and our homes.

God cares for us all the time, like Daniel, God cares for us at home and at school. God also cares for us day and night; on Wed. Nov. 11 the children may wear their PJ’s to school to help us learn this lesson. Remember children learn most by being actively involved and wearing their PJ’s to school is a lesson on God’s constant care and it is also fun!! What color PJ’s will Mrs. Jean wear?

Pastor Russ will be in to visit on Tues. Nov. 18; be sure to ask your child what Pastor Russ said that made her/him smile.

Wednesday will be a cooking day. We are making ABC Veggie soup. Please let your child bring in a small, very small portion of a vegetable to add to our soup. We will be cleaning and cutting the veggies at school.

Thursday, Nov. 20 is our last day at school before Thanksgiving and to celebrate in “kid” fashion we are going to share a trail mix. Every child should bring in a ½ cup of a finger food to add to our mix. It can be a cereal, pretzels, crackers, dried fruit, ECT. Please note we have a peanut allergy in the morning class so NO NUTS.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM ALL THE TEACHERS AT

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

MONDAY NOVEMBER 24 &

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 25

NO SCHOOL ALL WEEK

There will be a sign up sheet on the parent bulletin board for all parents to pick a time that best suits their schedule. Conferences will be held during the day time and will be limited to 10 minutes each. If this arrangement does not meet your needs please call your child’s teacher to set up an alternate meeting time. It is our hope that we will have 100% participation.

The morning conference is informal intending to get to know you and your aspirations for  your child this year. The afternoon conferences will consist of a “progress report” to insure all the PM children are on the right road to entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2009.

We will have an additional conference in January that will show a progress report for all the children.

Your involvement in and enthusiasm for your child’s education speaks volumes to your child as to the importance of his or her education.

 THANKSGIVING

A time to be thankful for all the big and little things God has provided for us.

Psalms 100:4a

Be thankful to Him and bless His Name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.

DO YOU HAVE A TOPIC TO DISCUSS? TALK TO MRS. BARB OR WRITE HER A NOTE.

                                      Reading With Your Child

Thank you for reading to your child; it is the single most important activity to promote a healthy life time reader.

Reading signs and cereal box labels are great ways to introduce reading.

Can your child retell you a story and think they are reading? This is a step into reading!!!!!

Need an activity while waiting with your child? Find a newspaper and have your child circle all the letters in his/her name.

GIVE YOUR CHILD A HUG!
